Underdahl Gets to Play in the Sandbox

Concord, NC – When 2010’s NHRA Countdown to the Championship began, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Jim Underdahl was competing for 11th place.  Since NHRA only takes the top 10 in points from the regular season, Underdahl sat outside the sandbox and did not get a shot at the championship.

2011 is another story.  The first race of the Countdown begins this weekend at the O’Reilly Auto Parts Nationals at ZMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina.  After scoring a semifinal finish at the last race in Indy, Underdahl secured a spot in the Countdown and gets to get play with nine other riders in the quest for the number 1 plate at the end of the season.  “The Countdown races were great last year, we made it to a few semis, the only problem was that we weren’t in the points,” stated Underdahl.  “This year we made it, and we hope to have similar success going into these last six races.”

Additionally, Underdahl has a new sponsor for this weekend’s race.  AGP Arms, a firearms manufacturer, out of Tempe, Arizona decided to get together with the team this weekend and showcase their newest product.  “We’re releasing our new takedown rifle this weekend, and we wanted to get a little more exposure outside the gun world,” stated Kevin Tenney, President of AGP Arms.  “We’ve known the Underdahl Racing family for a few years, and decided that it would be a great fit to showcase our products.”

Underdahl is looking forward to make a leap in the points this weekend and have a great showing for AGP Arms.  ZMAX Dragway has always been good to the 25year old rider, and this season he gets to play in the sandbox.  At the end of the weekend, he hopes to have the biggest sandcastle.

Qualifying for Pro Stock Motorcycle begins at 4:30 and 7:15pm Friday, with Q3 and Q4 at 11:15 and 1:45 respectively on Saturday.
